Beer Blokes - September 2006

undies on the football field.

September 29th 2006 07:46
Reports from England's Daily Mail this week have Nike currently developing a new uniform for the England rugby team to play in next year.

Skin-tight bodysuits.

Yeah, I know. The suits were tested under strictly secret conditions in an England club match last weekend. To check out the report and see some photos click on the link below.

The "jerseys" look like the ones currently worn by the English and French teams, cycling shirt style. The "shorts" are knee length and very similar to those worn by american football players. The idea is that these uniforms will make it impossible for the opposition to tackle the wearers.

The whole thing is an absoloute load of shit, particularly as the team testing them was beaten 48-5. I may be old fashioned but to put it simply, it's the blokes out there playing that decide the results, not their uniforms.

Hey, people can wear what they want, whatever. But really, it's just making the game look a bit silly and I know that if I came up against anybody dressed like that, I would make a special effort to beat the crap out of them.

Anyway, test level footballers don't have to resort to jersey pulling to tackle their opponents and if they did, it wouldn't matter what said opponents were wearing, 'cos a team of jersey-pullers is never gonna win a test match.

At least it gives us another reason to laugh at the English.

R.I.P Irwin, Brock and ?

Well, we haven't had the third loss to finish the trio of dead famous Aussies yet, so unless anyone has inside info about a celeb that isn't very well (perhaps you know a doctor to the stars or have access to a celebrity's garbage and have seen inordinate amounts of pharmacy reciepts) we're gonna have to shuffle the current order and install Don Chipp as the first to go down.

I know, I'd rather have a musician or movie star but you take what you can get I 'spose.

another "who's next"?

Someone has suggested a very likely candidate and quite frankly, I'm embarrassed I hadn't thought of it already. He's old, he's aussie, he's made out of plastic - it's Paul Hogan.

Paul has had so much cosmetic surgery that he looks as tough he needs to be pricked with a fork, like a bbq sausage. He's going to get caught in the sun too long and melt, or laugh too hard and burst.

dead aussie's society

Well, some interesting comments there. I think everyone agrees that no one would be upset to see the PM go next. Personally, I have to agree that Bert is shaping up pretty well as a very likely candidate. As for the Don Chipp issue, this is a very valid point, and if a properly famous aussie doesn't go soon I think we'll have to include him. I 'd just prefer to see someone really well known go.

i've also had enough of Steve Irwin on the news. i think it's time for the media to drop the issue. A Bert Newton funeral would force that very nicely. The only problem is... I just love the guy (Bert

Who's Next?

September 8th 2006 09:37
Okay, so far this week we've has Steve Irwin and Peter Brock pass on. The big question is... who's next?

These things come in threes apparently, so some time in the next week or so we can expect the death of one more prominent Australian

I was going through some old stuff and found this article I wrote just before the first Bledisloe Cup game. Enjoy.
